NHS Payment Exceptions

Find out if you you could qualify for free dental treatment. If you know you are eligible, learn what you need to do to claim your entitlement.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING EXEMPTIONS

Important: Claiming Free NHS Dental Treatment

If you believe you're entitled to free NHS dental care, you must tick the correct exemption box on your form. This is a legal declaration, and the NHS is now checking these claims more frequently.

If you make an incorrect claim, you may receive a penalty charge of at least £100, in addition to repaying the cost of treatment.
Please note: This charge comes directly from the NHS, not from the practice.

You may be entitled to free treatment if you:

  • Are under 18 years old
  • Are aged 18 and in full-time education
  • Are pregnant or have had a baby in the last 12 months
  • Receive Income Support, income-related ESA, or income-based JSA
  • Receive Universal Credit (and meet the criteria for free treatment)
  • Receive Pension Credit (Guarantee Credit)
  • Hold a valid HC2 certificate for full help with health costs
  • Hold a valid HC3 certificate – you may get partial help

Not all benefits qualify for free NHS dental care.
If you’re unsure, we strongly advise that you pay for your treatment and claim a refund later (if eligible). Help may still be available, even if you're not currently entitled.
